Best Client Portal Software for Accountants in India
Short answer: The best client portal depends on what your clients need to do in it. MyPract gives each engagement its own portal, opened by an emailed 6-digit code, where clients see status, upload documents and send messages, with portal clients never charged, from ₹12,000 a year for up to 5 users; it has no e-signature, payments or mobile app. ERPCA adds a branded portal with a client mobile app, TaxDome and Financial Cents add e-signature and payments at US-dollar prices, and Content Snare is a specialist document-collection tool with automatic reminders.
Last updated 22 October 2026. Features and prices were checked on each vendor's own pages on 13 October 2026 (ERPCA's pricing on 14 October 2026); prices exclude GST. MyPract is our product, so we cite every competitor claim and say where competitors are stronger.
Most Indian CA firms already have a client portal: it's called WhatsApp, plus an email inbox and a shared drive. It works until a bank statement goes to the wrong group, someone asks for "the latest version" of a file, or an article assistant leaves with the only copy of a client's thread. A proper portal gives each client one place to send documents and see where their work stands, with access you control. This guide compares portals built into practice software and specialist document-collection tools. For the wider picture, see our guide to the best practice management software for CA firms.

What matters most is whether you pay per client or only per firm user. Year-one licence for a 5-person firm, excluding GST. Indian tools are in rupees; non-Indian tools are at their own US-dollar prices, with MyPract's US-dollar plans shown beside them, excluding bank forex charges and 18% GST on imported services.
| Tool and plan | 5 users, year one | Do clients cost extra? |
|---|---|---|
| MyPract (billed in India) | ₹12,000, no setup fee | No; portal clients aren't charged as users |
| Jamku | ₹6,500 (+ ₹3,000 setup)[8] | No client fee on its pricing page, which lists no limit on clients[8] |
| ERPCA SaaS | ₹15,000 (₹250 per user a month, minimum 5 users)[2] | No per-client charge listed; pricing is per firm user[2] |
| Zoho Practice Premium | ₹1,07,400[3] | The portal needs Premium; Standard (₹35,400) doesn't include it |
| MyPract (US-dollar plans) | US$189; US$288 in year one if the one-time setup fee applies (teams of up to 14, waived if you pay during the trial) | No; portal clients aren't charged as users |
| Content Snare Plus | US$852[7] | No; recipients are unlimited, but active requests are capped (50 on Plus) |
| Financial Cents Team | US$2,940[6] | Priced per firm user; identity-verified signatures cost extra per verification |
| Karbon Team | US$3,540[5] | Priced per firm user; automatic reminders need Business (US$89 per user a month) |
| TaxDome Pro, 1-year term | US$5,000[4] | Priced per firm seat; the client app is a free download[11] |
Content Snare's Basic plan is US$35 a month on annual billing for 2 users and 20 active requests (US$420 a year).[7] It is a document-collection tool, not practice software, so you'd still need something to run engagements, time and billing.
What should a CA firm look for in a client portal?
- Access tied to the right people. Directors, the accountant at the client's office and the CFO shouldn't all see everything. Look for access per engagement or per contact, not one login per company.
- Easy login for clients. Clients forget passwords. Emailed one-time codes or magic links cut support calls.
- Documents in, with a record. Uploads should land against the right client and engagement, with versions, not in a general inbox.
- Messages next to the work. A thread attached to the engagement survives staff turnover; a WhatsApp group often doesn't.
- Status the client can see. "Where is my ITR?" calls drop when the client can see the task list.
- Reminders, signatures and payments, if you need them. These are where global tools are strongest, and where you pay most.
- Cost per client. If a portal charges per client or limits active requests, a firm with 300 GST clients pays very differently from one with 30.
- Where the documents are stored. Bank statements and PAN cards are personal data under the DPDP Act 2023. Ask where the portal's files are hosted.
How does MyPract's client portal work?
MyPract is a global, AI-native practice management platform for accounting, audit, tax and advisory teams, built for cross-border teams and clients; the portal is part of every plan, Indian firms are billed in rupees and firms elsewhere on US-dollar plans.
- One portal per engagement. Each engagement (say, FY 2025-26 tax audit for a client) has its own link.
- Emailed 6-digit code. The link opens only for the client contacts you've mapped to that engagement, after a code sent to their email; the code expires in 10 minutes.
- What clients can do. See the engagement's status and tasks, upload documents and send messages to your team.
- Inside your workspace. Uploads land in the engagement's documents, with version history, folders and in-browser preview of PDFs and images. Messages sit in the engagement's thread.
- Free for clients. Portal clients are not charged as users on any plan.
- Data domicile by country. A paying firm outside India gets its own instance in its country, so its database, files and server functions stay in-country. Today, with customers in India, everything runs in Mumbai (AWS ap-south-1) through Supabase, with access enforced in the database per workspace.
What it does not do: there is no e-signature (it's built but not switched on), no payment collection or invoice payment in the portal, no native mobile app for clients (the portal works in a phone browser), no automated client reminders, and no WhatsApp integration. See features, pricing and facts.
Where are competitors stronger?
- TaxDome combines a branded portal with a client mobile app, e-signatures, proposals, payments, chat and SMS.[4] If your clients are in the US, UK or Australia and expect to sign and pay in one place, it does far more than MyPract, at roughly 26 times MyPract's US-dollar Startup price for five users. See MyPract vs TaxDome.
- ERPCA offers a branded client portal and a native Android and iOS client app in its SaaS plan, priced per firm user rather than per client.[2] See MyPract vs ERPCA.
- Financial Cents includes client requests, e-signatures and online payments even on its one-user Solo plan.[6] See MyPract vs Financial Cents.
- Karbon pairs its portal with automated client requests, and automatic client reminders from its Business plan.[5] See MyPract vs Karbon.
- Content Snare is purpose-built for chasing documents: request templates, forms, upload areas and unlimited automatic reminders.[7] Some firms use it alongside their practice software.
- Zoho Practice links its portal and workpaper document requests to clients' Zoho Books, and is free for Zoho partners.[3][10] See MyPract vs Zoho Practice.
Who should not choose MyPract
- Your clients need to e-sign. MyPract has no e-signature today. TaxDome and Financial Cents include it, and Zoho Practice connects to Zoho Sign.
- You want clients to pay through the portal. MyPract doesn't collect payments; TaxDome, Financial Cents, Karbon and ERPCA's payment integrations do.
- Your clients expect an app. MyPract has no native mobile app; ERPCA and TaxDome offer client apps.
- Chasing documents is your biggest problem. MyPract sends no automated reminders. Content Snare, Karbon Business or Financial Cents Scale will chase for you.
- Your clients work on WhatsApp and won't move. MyPract has no WhatsApp integration; Zoho Practice and ERPCA list WhatsApp.[2][3]
- You need one portal login per client across all their work. MyPract's portal is per engagement, so a client with several engagements gets several links.

How we checked
On 13 October 2026 we checked each vendor's own pages: Jamku's pricing and comparison pages and its July 2021 help changelog, ERPCA's pricing page (re-checked on 14 October 2026, after it replaced its Run, Grow and Scale packages with per-user pricing), Zoho Practice pricing and workpaper pages, Karbon, Financial Cents and Content Snare pricing, TaxDome's client experience page (through a search listing) and its client app listing on the App Store. TaxDome's own pages blocked our automated check that day, so its features come from our MyPract vs TaxDome comparison, which was re-verified against taxdome.com/pricing the same day. We also looked at FileInvite and SuiteFiles but left them out: FileInvite's pricing page now describes a plan for commercial lending, and SuiteFiles' pricing page doesn't name its currency. Non-Indian tools are compared in US dollars at their own published prices against MyPract's US-dollar plans, with no rupee conversion; dollar prices exclude bank forex charges and 18% GST on imported services. MyPract facts come from our facts page and the product code.
