Best Practice Management Software for Small CA Firms (1–5 People)

By the MyPract team Updated 11 min read

Short answer: For an Indian CA firm of one to five people, Jamku, ERPCA and Zoho Practice cost ₹9,500 to ₹35,400 a year in year one, and the global tools cost US$228 to US$5,000 a year at their own dollar prices. MyPract (₹12,000 a year flat for up to 5 users in India, no setup fee; US$189 on its US-dollar plans), a global, AI-native platform, suits small firms that bill on time and want engagements, a client portal and an AI assistant. Jamku suits firms that need Income Tax and TRACES sync or UDIN tracking, ERPCA suits firms that want attendance, Tally and payment collection, and Zoho Practice suits Zoho partners.

Last updated 22 October 2026. Prices were checked on each vendor's own pricing page on 13 October 2026 (ERPCA's on 14 October 2026, after it changed its pricing) and exclude 18% GST. MyPract is our product, so we link every competitor claim to its source and say where competitors are stronger.

A small CA firm doesn't have the problems a 40-person firm has. You don't need capacity planning across three offices or a BI dashboard. You do need every client's GST, TDS and ITR due dates in one place, a way to hand work to an article assistant and see it come back, somewhere to collect documents that isn't WhatsApp, and an invoice that goes out on time. This guide compares what that costs for 1, 3 and 5 users, and which tool fits which kind of small practice. For firms of every size, see our pillar guide to practice management software for CA firms.

Which practice management software is best for a small CA firm?

There is no single winner. It depends on what your practice spends most of its day on.

Three things stand out for a small firm:

  1. Flat bands beat per-seat pricing when you're growing from 1 to 5. MyPract, Jamku and Zoho Practice Standard price the first five users as one band, and ERPCA's 5-user minimum has the same effect, so hiring your second article assistant costs nothing extra. Every global tool in the table charges per seat.
  2. Setup fees matter more than they look. Jamku's ₹3,000 one-time setup fee, charged up to 14 users, adds almost half to its ₹6,500 licence in year one[1]. MyPract charges no setup fee for firms billed in India, and ERPCA lists none.
  3. Dollar tools cost many times more for the same headcount: at five users, the global tools in the table cost US$2,280 to US$5,000 a year. MyPract's US-dollar Startup plan is US$189 for the same five users, so the cheapest of them costs about twelve times as much. That can still be worth it if you need what they do (see below), but it's rarely worth it for Indian compliance work alone.

If you are billed outside India, MyPract's prices are Startup $189/year for up to 5 users, Growing $49 and Enterprise $39 per user per year. A one-time US$99 setup fee applies to teams of up to 14 users, waived if you pay during the trial. For every vendor in one table, see practice management software pricing in India; for the cheapest options worldwide, see most affordable practice management software.

What does a small CA firm actually need?

Before comparing feature lists, separate what a 1–5 person practice uses every week from what it pays for and never opens.

You almost certainly need:

  • One client master with PAN, GSTIN, contacts and the services you provide, imported from your existing Excel sheet rather than typed in again.
  • Due dates and owners for recurring work: GST returns, TDS, advance tax, ITRs, ROC filings and audits. Someone has to see what's late.
  • Task hand-off to article assistants and staff, with the ability to see who's working on what without a phone call.
  • Document collection that's better than chasing PDFs on WhatsApp and email.
  • A DSC register, so you know whose token is in which drawer and when it expires.
  • Simple invoicing, ideally from the work you've recorded, so fees don't slip.
  • A trial long enough to run one real GST or TDS cycle through the tool.

You can usually skip:

  • Capacity planning and resource scheduling across teams.
  • Business-intelligence dashboards and custom report builders.
  • Multi-year contracts to get a lower per-seat price.
  • An open API or Zapier automations, unless someone in the firm will actually build them.
  • Proposal and engagement-letter tools, if your engagements are long-standing retainers.

It depends on your practice:

Our 30-point checklist turns this into a scorecard.

How do the main options compare for small firms?

MyPract

MyPract is a global, AI-native practice management platform for accounting, audit, tax and advisory teams, from a solo practitioner upwards, which bills Indian firms in rupees. It runs clients, engagements, tasks (with subtasks and dependencies), time tracking, invoicing from approved time in each client's currency, documents and a client portal in one workspace, with an AI assistant that answers from every module and acts only after you confirm, plus a DSC register and read-only GST portal data for Indian work. Every user gets every module. Data domicile by country: a paying firm outside India gets its own instance in its country, so its database, files and server functions stay in-country. Today, with customers in India, everything runs in Mumbai (AWS ap-south-1) through Supabase. The trial is three months, opt-in, with no card and no automatic conversion. Portal clients are not charged as users. Full detail is on features and facts.

For a small firm, the honest limits are these: MyPract does not create the next occurrence of a recurring task automatically, has no native mobile apps (it's a responsive web app), doesn't sync with the Income Tax or TRACES portals, doesn't track UDINs and doesn't collect payments.

Jamku

Jamku charges ₹6,500 a year for up to five users plus a ₹3,000 setup fee, so ₹9,500 in year one[1]. That is less than MyPract costs at this size. Its separate Jamku Portal product syncs Income Tax, GST and TRACES data and tracks UDIN and DSC expiry, priced by module.[10] Jamku also has Android and iOS apps and optional geo-attendance. File storage is an add-on (₹500 activation, then ₹100 per GB a year)[1]. See MyPract vs Jamku.

ERPCA

ERPCA's SaaS plan is ₹250 per user a month, billed annually with a minimum of five users, so ₹15,000 a year for up to five; it replaced the Run, Grow and Scale packages in October 2026, and existing customers keep their rate. It lists Tally integration, GST e-invoicing, Razorpay and PayPal payment collection, selfie-and-GPS attendance with payroll, and a native mobile app.[2] Its DSC register adds expiry alerts and consent forms. It costs two and a half times MyPract's price for up to five users but bundles more back-office tools. See MyPract vs ERPCA.

Zoho Practice

Zoho Practice Standard is ₹35,400 a year for up to five users, and its self-service client portal is on Premium only (₹1,07,400 a year).[3] If your firm is an authorised, advanced or premium Zoho partner, it can cost nothing, and it links directly to clients' Zoho Books.[3] The trial is 14 days. See MyPract vs Zoho Practice.

Global tools: TaxDome, Karbon, Financial Cents, Uku, Jetpack Workflow

These are built mainly for US, UK and Australian firms and priced per seat in US dollars. Where they are stronger: TaxDome bundles a branded portal, client app, e-signature, proposals and payments;[4] Karbon turns a shared email inbox into tracked work;[5] Financial Cents includes client requests, e-signatures and online payments even on its one-user Solo plan;[6] Uku's Solo plan suits a one-person practice with up to 20 active clients;[7] and Jetpack Workflow is a focused recurring-deadline tracker.[8] None documents Indian compliance features such as a DSC register. All comparisons are on our compare page.

Is free software enough for a sole practitioner?

Sometimes. Zoho Invoice is free for Indian businesses, with up to two users, three projects and 500 invoices a year, GST invoices, time tracking and online payments by UPI, card and net banking.[9] Paired with a spreadsheet of due dates, that covers billing for a one-person practice. It doesn't give you engagement workflow, task hand-off or a DSC register, so most firms move to practice software once a second person shares the work. Zoho Practice is free for Zoho partners, which is the strongest free option if you qualify.[3]

Who should not choose MyPract

Be clear about these before you start a trial:

  • You want recurring compliance tasks to generate themselves. MyPract doesn't create the next monthly GST or TDS task automatically. Jamku or ERPCA are stronger here.
  • Notices and UDINs drive your week. MyPract has no Income Tax or TRACES sync and no UDIN tracking; Jamku Portal covers both.
  • Your staff work from phones. MyPract has no native mobile apps. Jamku and ERPCA both offer them.
  • You want clients to pay online or e-sign. MyPract does not collect payments and has no e-signature. ERPCA, Financial Cents and TaxDome do.
  • You need attendance, payroll or Tally. ERPCA covers these; MyPract doesn't.
  • You're a Zoho partner. Zoho Practice may be free for you.
  • Price decides it, now or as you grow. Jamku already costs less at five users, and from the sixth user MyPract charges per user at a higher rate than Jamku or ERPCA, so ERPCA costs less from 7 users too. See our pricing guide.
  • You're a US, UK or Australian firm that needs local tax-software integrations. MyPract has none; a local tool will fit better.

How we checked

On 13 October 2026 we checked each vendor's own pricing page: Jamku, ERPCA (re-checked on 14 October 2026 after it changed its pricing), Zoho Practice (India region), Zoho Invoice (India), TaxDome, Karbon, Financial Cents, Uku and Jetpack Workflow. TaxDome, Jamku, ERPCA, Zoho Practice, Karbon, Uku and Jetpack figures match our comparison posts re-verified the same day. Non-Indian tools are compared in US dollars at their own published prices against MyPract's US-dollar plans, with no rupee conversion; dollar prices exclude bank forex charges and 18% GST on imported services. MyPract facts come from our published facts page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest practice management software for a small CA firm in India?

At published list prices, Jamku is the lowest for up to 5 users: ₹6,500 a year plus a ₹3,000 one-time setup fee. MyPract costs ₹12,000 a year, with no setup fee. ERPCA's SaaS plan is ₹15,000 at its 5-user minimum. Zoho Practice can cost nothing for Zoho Finance partners. Prices exclude 18% GST.

Does a sole practitioner need practice management software?

Not always. With a handful of clients, a spreadsheet and a calendar can work. Software starts to pay off once you have recurring due dates for many clients, an article assistant or staff member sharing the work, or time you want to bill.

Do I pay per user on MyPract if I have 3 people?

No. MyPract charges a flat ₹12,000 a year (before GST) for 1 to 5 users, so 1, 3 and 5 people pay the same. You pay per user only from the sixth user. Firms billed outside India pay in US dollars on the US site. See pricing.

Does MyPract create recurring compliance tasks automatically?

No. MyPract does not create the next occurrence of a recurring task automatically, so monthly GST and TDS tasks have to be created or copied by someone. Tools with a compliance calendar, such as Jamku or ERPCA, are stronger here.

Are global tools like TaxDome or Karbon worth it for a 3-person Indian firm?

Rarely on cost alone. Three users cost US$2,124 a year on Karbon Team and US$3,000 on TaxDome Pro (1-year term), before forex charges and GST. MyPract's US-dollar Startup plan is US$189 a year for up to 5 users. They make sense mainly if you serve US, UK or Australian clients and need their e-signature, payments or tax-software integrations.
