Best Practice Management Software for Mid-Size CA Firms (10–50 People)
Short answer: For an Indian CA firm of 10 to 50 people there is no single winner. MyPract, a global, AI-native platform billed in rupees in India, is the best fit for firms that bill on effort and want manager-approved time, period locks, invoices from approved hours, client-level access control and an AI assistant that works across every module. Jamku is the cheapest per user and adds Income Tax, GST and TRACES sync through Jamku Portal; ERPCA suits firms that want attendance, article payroll, Tally and payment collection; CCH iFirm suits multi-office firms that want capacity planning; and Zoho Practice suits Zoho partners.
Last updated 22 October 2026. Prices were checked on each vendor's own pricing page (Jamku and ERPCA on 14 October 2026; others on 13 October 2026, as in our comparison posts) and exclude 18% GST. MyPract is our product, so every competitor claim links to its source and we say where competitors are stronger.
A firm of 10 to 50 people has different problems from a three-person practice. Partners no longer see every file. Work passes between managers, seniors and article assistants, so hand-offs and reviews slip. Fees leak because time is recorded late or never billed. And with 20 or 30 people in the system, not everyone should see every client. This guide compares year-one cost at 10, 20, 30 and 50 users, and ranks the tools by the kind of mid-size firm each suits. For small practices, see the best software for small CA firms; for the whole market, our pillar guide to practice management software for CA firms.

What the table says, plainly:
- Jamku and ERPCA both cost less than MyPract at every size in this range. MyPract's per-user rate from the sixth user is higher than both. If price per head decides it, start with those two.
- Onboarding fees start to matter at this size. MyPract charges no setup fee for firms billed in India. Jamku's consulting becomes mandatory from 15 users, with packages of ₹15,000, ₹25,000 or ₹50,000.[1] ERPCA says onboarding and training are included in its SaaS price, with a separate Assisted Deployment programme priced on request.[3]
- Global tools cost roughly fourteen to twenty-three times more for the same headcount, compared on their own dollar prices against MyPract's US-dollar plans. They are worth it mainly when overseas client work needs their integrations.
ERPCA changed its published pricing page between our 13 and 14 October checks; the figures above are the ones on its page on 14 October 2026. For every vendor in one table, see practice management software pricing in India.
What does a 10–50 person CA firm actually need?
The jump from 5 to 25 people changes what matters. These are the capabilities to test in a trial:
- Engagements with an owner, budget and fee. Each audit, GST retainer or advisory job should have a manager, budget hours and a fee, so you can see which jobs run over.
- Review before work leaves the firm. Tasks with subtasks and dependencies let a senior's review sit between preparation and sign-off.
- Time that a manager approves. At 20 people, unapproved timesheets turn into write-offs. Approval, then a period lock, means the hours you invoice can't change afterwards. Our guide on tracking billable hours in a CA firm covers this in detail.
- Capacity and utilisation. Partners need to see who is overloaded before the due date, not after it.
- Access by client. Article assistants and new joiners usually shouldn't see every client's documents, fees and invoices.
- Roles that match the firm. Partners, managers, seniors, articles and read-only reviewers need different rights.
- Bulk client import with checks. Moving 800 clients from Excel should catch bad PANs, GSTINs and duplicates before they land.
- Onboarding you can afford. Training 30 people takes weeks; know what is included before you sign.
What you can often skip at this size: custom report builders, open APIs you won't build on, and multi-year contracts signed only for a lower per-seat price.
How do the main options compare for mid-size firms?
MyPract: best for billing from approved time with client-level access
MyPract is a global, AI-native practice management platform for accounting, audit, tax and advisory teams, built for cross-border teams and clients, which bills Indian firms in rupees and adds India-specific modules. It runs clients, engagements, tasks, time, invoicing, documents and a client portal in one workspace. For a mid-size firm the parts that matter most are these:
- Time with approvals and locks. Staff log time by weekly timesheet or timer. Managers approve it and lock past periods, and rate rules can be set by workspace, member, client or engagement.
- Invoices from approved hours. Managers raise invoices from approved, unbilled, billable time, and each time entry is linked to its invoice.
- Utilisation against capacity. Each person has a weekly capacity, and reports show utilisation, engagement burndown, client summary and overdue tasks, exportable to CSV.
- Six roles and client-level access. Owner, Admin, Manager, Staff, Viewer and Client. Owners and Admins can limit any Manager, Staff or Viewer to selected clients; that person then sees only those clients and their engagements, tasks, time, documents and invoices everywhere in the app, including reports, search and the AI assistant. Access is enforced in the database with row-level security.
- Client import with row checks. Up to 2,000 clients per Excel or CSV file, with GSTIN and PAN format, emails, phones and duplicates checked before anything is saved.
- An AI assistant inside the workspace. It answers from every module, because there is one data model, and creates clients, engagements, tasks, time and invoices only after confirmation. Claude and ChatGPT can be connected as agents through MCP; the AI is bound by the same six roles as people, and Owners and Admins can switch it off.
- India-specific modules. A DSC register with token custody and read-only GST portal data (filing status, notices to tasks, ledgers, GSTR-2B reconciliation).
- Data domicile by country: a paying firm outside India gets its own instance in its country, so its database, files and server functions stay in-country. Today, with customers in India, everything runs in Mumbai (AWS ap-south-1) through Supabase.
Price: ₹12,000/year for the first 5 users, then ₹4,800 per user for users 6–30 and ₹4,000 per user for users 31+, billed annually, no setup fee, with a 3-month opt-in trial that needs no card. A 12-person firm pays ₹12,000 + 7 × ₹4,800 = ₹45,600/year + GST. Full detail is on features and facts.
The honest limits for a firm this size: no attendance or payroll, no native mobile apps, no Income Tax or TRACES sync, no UDIN tracking, no payment collection, and the next occurrence of a recurring task isn't created automatically. MyPract reports utilisation but not realisation.
Jamku: best on price per user
Jamku's Growing tier is ₹1,300 per user a year up to 30 users, and ₹1,500 per user above that.[1] It includes Android, iOS and desktop apps, and Jamku Portal, a separate product priced by module, syncs Income Tax, GST and TDS portal data.[1][2] Geo-attendance, file storage and chat are add-ons, and consulting is mandatory from 15 users[1]. See MyPract vs Jamku.
ERPCA: best for attendance, article payroll and Tally
ERPCA's page for firms of 5 to 25 people centres on firm-wide workflows and checklists, daysheets that show capacity, selfie and geofenced attendance, and payroll for staff and articles.[4] Its SaaS plan lists Tally, e-invoicing, Razorpay and PayPal, a client mobile app and WhatsApp integration in every subscription.[3] It says more than 2,500 firms use it.[3] For firms of 100 or more users it also offers an on-premise licence on request. See MyPract vs ERPCA.
CCH iFirm: best for multi-office firms that want capacity planning
Wolters Kluwer says more than 400 CA firms in India and South Asia use CCH iFirm, and highlights capacity planning, timesheets and jobs linked to invoices.[5] It suits firms with several offices or a presence in more than one country. Prices are by quote, so ask for a written figure per user and for any training charges. See MyPract vs CCH iFirm.
Zoho Practice: best for Zoho partners
Zoho Practice links workpapers and ledgers to clients' Zoho Books, and it is free for authorised, advanced and premium Zoho Finance partners.[6] For other firms it is the dearest rupee-priced option at this size, and the self-service client portal is on Premium only.[6] See MyPract vs Zoho Practice.
Karbon and TaxDome: best when overseas clients drive the work
Karbon turns a shared email inbox into tracked work for the team;[7] TaxDome bundles a branded portal, client app, e-signature, proposals and payments.[8] Neither documents Indian compliance features such as a DSC register or GST portal data. See MyPract vs Karbon and MyPract vs TaxDome.
How should a mid-size firm run the evaluation?
- Pick two or three tools, not seven. Use the "best for" table to shortlist.
- Import your real client list into each and see how many rows fail and why.
- Run one real cycle. A GST month, a TDS quarter or one statutory audit, with managers approving time and raising at least one invoice from it.
- Test access with an article assistant's login. Check what they can and cannot see.
- Get onboarding in writing. Who trains your managers, how long it takes and what it costs.
- Price year one and year two separately, including setup, consulting, add-ons and GST.
Our 30-point checklist turns this into a scorecard. All head-to-head comparisons are on the compare page.
Who should not choose MyPract
MyPract is not the right pick for a 10–50 person firm in these cases:
- Price per head decides it. Jamku and ERPCA both cost less than MyPract at 10, 20, 30 and 50 users at published prices.
- You need attendance, leave or article payroll. MyPract has none of these; ERPCA covers them, and Jamku offers geo-attendance as an add-on.
- Notices and UDINs drive your week. MyPract has no Income Tax or TRACES sync and no UDIN tracking; Jamku Portal covers notice sync.
- Your staff work mainly from phones. MyPract has no native mobile apps; Jamku and ERPCA do.
- You want clients to pay online, or you need Tally. MyPract does not collect payments or integrate with Tally; ERPCA does both.
- You want recurring compliance tasks to create themselves. MyPract doesn't create the next occurrence automatically, which matters with hundreds of monthly GST clients.
- You need deep capacity planning across offices. CCH iFirm is stronger here.
- Your clients are mostly in the US, UK or Australia. A tool that integrates with their tax software will fit better.
How we checked
On 14 October 2026 we checked Jamku's pricing page, Jamku Portal's pricing page, and ERPCA's pricing page and its page for mid-sized firms. Zoho Practice, CCH iFirm, Karbon and TaxDome figures are from their own pages as checked on 13 October 2026 for our comparison posts, linked above. Year-one figures follow each vendor's published rules; for Jamku above 30 users we apply the Enterprise rate of ₹1,500 to every user, as its pricing page lists it per user for teams of more than 30. Non-Indian tools are compared in US dollars at their own published prices against MyPract's US-dollar plans, with no rupee conversion; dollar prices exclude bank forex charges and GST on imported services. MyPract facts come from our facts page.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best practice management software for a CA firm of 20 people?
It depends on what the firm needs to control. For billing from manager-approved time, client-level access and an AI assistant bound by the same roles as people, MyPract. For the lowest per-user price and Income Tax or TRACES sync, Jamku. For attendance, article payroll and Tally, ERPCA. For capacity planning across offices, CCH iFirm. For firms whose clients run on Zoho Books, Zoho Practice.
How much does practice management software cost for 20 users in India?
At published list prices, year one for 20 users is about ₹41,000 on Jamku (including its cheapest mandatory consulting package), ₹60,000 on ERPCA and ₹1,07,400 on Zoho Practice Standard, all before 18% GST. MyPract costs ₹84,000 for 20 users, with no setup fee. CCH iFirm is quote-only. See pricing.
Is MyPract the cheapest option for a mid-size CA firm?
No. From the sixth user MyPract's per-user rate is higher than Jamku's and ERPCA's, so both cost less at 20 or 50 users. MyPract's case at this size is approval-controlled time, invoices from approved hours, engagements and client-level access, not price.
Can I stop article assistants seeing every client's data?
In MyPract, yes. Owners and Admins can limit any Manager, Staff or Viewer to selected clients, and that person then sees only those clients and their engagements, tasks, time, documents and invoices, including in reports, search and the AI assistant.
Do mid-size firms need capacity planning software?
Usually some view of who is overloaded, yes. MyPract shows utilisation against each person's weekly capacity; CCH iFirm offers fuller capacity planning, and ERPCA uses daysheets and timesheets to show who is busy.
